Friend(s) With Benefits (FWB): Can it work??!
So anyway, as I asked in the title...can FWB work??!
In my most recent personal experience, it didn't. Luckily, my friend and I are were able to remain friends. But, that was after dealing with drama.
I think the main issue with having a FWB is that feelings get involved. At times, one may have deeper feelings than another. So things get difficult when one or both people start liking/talking to someone else. The easy solution to this dilemma would be "keep it real" right?! Those of you who have been there knows it's not that easy. You don't want to hurt your friends feelings, but at the same time you want to be honest.
Then the other questions are:
"Does that mean the 'benefits' stop for the FWB when there's someone new?"
"Should/Can FWB remain friends if the 'benefits' stop?"
These situations can cause a lot of drama, feelings to get hurt, and/or friendships to end. Although it may be difficult, honesty is the best policy -- if you want to remain friends with the FWB. It's better to hear the truth from the person you've been involved with, versus other friends or social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter.
FWB isn't for everyone, but in some cases it has worked. Communication and honesty is the key to any relationship though. Otherwise there isn't any trust.
Well these are just my opinions and questions about FWB. I would like to know yours though! Has it worked for you or someone you know? Why or why not??

Hair Blues
Ever since I can remember, I've had relaxed hair. When I was younger, I suffered alot of damage and my hair was never healthy. For the last three years I've been going to the same stylist and finally it grows so I got some hang time and it's healthier than ever. KUDOS to her...and me! When I first started going to her I had a short cut and now its past my shoulders. Since she's been doing my hair I've done color, cuts, weaves, and more. Yea, fried, dyed, and laid to the side more than a lil bit! Aye...I like variety and I get bored! lol
So far I've had three weaves. It's kind of a love/hate relationship. I love it when I first get it done. Then I hate it when I start to get tired of the same style, it itches, the maintenance. Ughhh! Other than that, you have to deal with the weave critics. Its funny that some people think that every person who wears a weave has unhealthy hair or that she's superficial. There's probably other opinions, but I wont even entertain them. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion though. SMH Their ignorance irks me. Hmmmph not enough for me not to still be thinking about getting one though!
Lately, I've been going back and forth with the decision to go natural. I've tried, and failed. I got my sister and my friend to go natural, yet I gave up while transitioning. My sis has been going a year strong and my cousin has shoulder length dreads now. I don't know, guess I really am addicted to the CREAMY CRACK! Watching "Good Hair" seriously made me think about attempting to transition to natural again though. I didn't realize how dangerous sodium hydroxide, better known as relaxers, are. More importantly, I didnt really think about how oppressed we are by our hair. How over the years we have made advances to create products to make our naturaly curly and/or kinky hair emulate our White sista's grain. Time will tell though. Might just have to get my daily inspiration from my natural sistas on Youtube.
Welp that's my Hair Blues rant...
Relate? Comments? Questions? Suggestions? I'd love to read.

Reality Check
Other than extra pounds and debt, this time of year usually always gives us all a huge REALITY CHECK! We realize who our real friends are, who never were, if you're the main boo, or the side piece, and so on. How do we realize this? Actions speak louder than words.
I can only speak from my personal experiences, or those of my friends; but most likely some of you can relate. Also, remember there is a difference between friends and associates. You expect way more from someone you actually consider a friend. Hmm but that's a whole different topic that I can blog about later...so yea.
Real friends and/or a beau will more than likely get you a gift. Unless they are broke or cheap. Y'all should already have that understanding, with the "I love you, but I'm broke" convo, though. The others don't even think about exchanging gifts. You know why? Their money already went to their close friends and family. Sorry! No money is left over.
Other than getting gifts, you're also invited to the holiday get togethers. When there's a party, people invite their friends. If you only know about a party by looking at the pics on Facebook or seeing Twitter updates...ehh y'all might not be as cool as you thought. If an event allows them to bring only one guest, it'll most likely be their boo. If that person isn't you--you're most likely the side piece. Also, if you only get text messages or phone calls versus actual quality time...guess what? It's because they're with the main boo. (i.e.: Tiger Woods)
Ultimately, someone who really cares knows their presence is worth more than any present though. So if you can relate to any of the situations then you may need a reality check. Don't make anyone a priority when you're only an option. Can you relate?? Do y'all have any "reality check" moments to add?? Please share. It might help someone. Or just help you vent.

Snow Day
I used to look forward to days like this as a child. I remember being in my pajamas doing the snow dance. Anxiously waiting for the announcent that school was cancelled. But now, as an adult, when "the Man" still expects me to get up and be at work-I can do without it.
Right now, there's about a foot of snow and counting. It is STILL snowing as I type. It's pretty and all but the thought of shoveling out my car, slipping and sliding, and the other fuckery associated with the storm...I'm NOT excited.
Hence, I'm snuggled up in my bed. I got my laptop, remote, music, and phone to entertain me. Plus the fridge and pantry is stocked with goodies. So yea, sounds good to me. I'm in lazy girl mode.
Although it's nice chilling, it would be cool to have a cuddle buddy over here. ;)
What are yall doing?? What is your idea of a nice snow day?? Who would you be with? It could be someone famous, an e-crush, ANYONE! What would you do?? Let me know, I'm curious.
